Really lovely hotel, towards the outskirts of the town but still a quick Yandex ride from the centre and the train station. Walking distance to a couple of small shops (as well as the Lenin monument and abandoned cinema which was very cool to see!). The room was attractive and stylish with a comfortable double bed and wonderful bathroom with enormous walk-in shower. Wi-Fi was decent and the breakfast was varied and delicious, served in the adjacent hotel restaurant. The staff don’t speak much English but were charming and helpful once we’d got Google Translate out :)

We had a really lovely stay at Hotel Continent. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming — when we arrived very early in the morning by train, they let us rest in a spare room while we waited for ours to be ready, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Later, they even offered us complimentary tea and dessert, which really added to the warm hospitality. Our room was very comfortable, especially the bed, and came well equipped with robes, towels, a fridge, and a kettle. The bathroom was spacious with a great shower — everything felt fresh and well looked after. The restaurant downstairs is also a highlight. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with plenty of variety, and the restaurant is open throughout the day and evening for other meals too. We only stayed one night as our main reason for visiting was to see the Karlag Museum, so we can’t comment much on the wider location. However, it’s only about a 5-minute Yandex ride from the train station, which was very convenient for us. Overall, a comfortable, welcoming stay with excellent service — highly recommended if you’re visiting Karaganda.

Very friendly and English-speaking staff, clean and spacious rooms, delicious food at the restaurant on the first floor (I recommend the ribeye steak), free parking (there is CCTV)

Breakfast brought to room. Balcony with comfy chairs. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Attractive design and design features.Staff member played beautiful music on traditional Kazakh instrument.
